Physiology First Ambassador Academy: Day 13

The greatest learning opportunity that is missed 99% of the time is as follows…

Training IS physiology based education.

Training the body for sport or general fitness is the perfect opportunity to learn how and why adaptation to stress occurs. We stress muscles to strengthen them…how does that work, exactly? We stress our bodies ability to offload carbon dioxide and utilize oxygen in order to generate ATP to fuel muscles….that’s the ULTIMATE physiology lesson, or it’s just some sit-ups, burpees, and running drills.

If you’ve asked your team, workshop group, or class to write their definition of “fitness” you have a starting point for achieving it.

Exercise has “a point.”

It’s more than just sweating and burning calories-it’s adapting on purpose, with purpose.

Today’s video is all about exercise selection. This is your opportunity to establish principles about autonomy, individuality, and the importance of programming for goal attainment.

Building empowering training programs that respect students bodies, brains, and minds is what this Ambassador Academy is all about.

Today we’re going to talk about exercise selection based on simple assessments that teach students about their body while helping them teach their most important goals.

In this video you’ll learn a simple assessment of the ribcage. Tomorrow we’ll break down how this might impact program design decisions-and how even talking about the individual differences in our bodies is a gateway to a more empowering conversation on training, adaptation, and 21st century fitness.
