Physiology First Ambassador Academy: Day 10

Trust. In the world of coaching and teaching this topic hardly comes up-yet it is the foundation of communication, connection, and impact.

The “sage on a stage” mentality that presents the coach or teacher in an all-knowing, all powerful, light robs everyone of of their true capacity to learn and teach. Participants become disempowered spectators and teachers become egomaniacs who stop challenging their own thinking and kill their own learning in the process.

The next week will focus heavily on organizing group fitness classes or workshops with a physical component. Why? Because long term adherence and community building will require an outlet for physiology based training and ongoing physical, mental, and social fitness.

Ambassador Academy Assignment: Today’s assignment is to brainstorm 3 ways that you can build trust at the start of a class and that you might use at your pop-up campus.

Example: I’ll often pull two athletes with different body structures to the center of the room and explain why I’m choosing different exercises for each of them while involving them in the conversation with questions on what’s worked best for them and what hasn’t. Demonstrating that you’re thinking about each individual and that you care about their training outcomes while giving them the opportunity to share the training experience from their side is a learning experience for you, them, and the group as well as a way to build trust between all involved.

Thank you all so much for being part of this program and looking forward to hearing what you come up with for trust building exercises!
