Daily Brain Freeze: Mindset as a Superpower

Today’s lesson explores the science of mindset. The term mindset is often used as a synonym for “mental toughness” or in connection to the concept of “growth mindset.” Both descriptors miss out on one of the coolest components of mindset as a superpower-it is a trainable quality characterized by the perception of challenge as rewarding and by the levels of dopamine that we receive when confronted with a difficult problem to solve.

Carol Dweck’s work on the subject is fascinating and her book, Mindset, is definitely worth a read!
